Amazon Shopper Panel – Can You Earn Money From This App?

I heard about Amazon Shopper Panel through the instagram grapevine and just had to sign up. Originally I’d downloaded it with the intention of taking advantage of their receipt scan program. Scan 5 receipts each month and get a £5 Amazon voucher – nice right! So nice that they’ve been full for months and no longer accepting new users. But I still took the chance, downloaded the app and joined the waitlist. And in the meantime I will get paid £24 per year for having the app downloaded and my ad tracking settings on. Plus any extra pennies from the odd survey they offer.

Yes, I am getting paid to share my ad data with Amazon.

Disclaimer – I’m not super protective about my data. In my view, companies have access to this information anyway why not get paid for it? It’s exactly how I approach sites like YouGov, where I get paid to share my streaming data and transaction history.

So how does it work?

It’s as simple as allowing the app to track your ad data – you literally flick a toggle to consent to them having access to this data. And then each month they add £2 to your Amazon balance as a thank you. It really is that simple!

The app states they are looking for any Amazon ads you get shown and use the information to help them make ads more relevant. You’re essentially a part of a long term research project.

Is it safe?

Like with anything you should do your own research and only participate in things that you feel 100% comfortable with. I’ve personally never had a problem with this app. But like I said I’m not particularly worried about sharing my data in this way with big companies.

Can I stop at any time?

Yes, you can withdraw your consent and turn off ad verification at anytime.

What would stop me getting the reward?

The app states that if you turn off ad verification for more than 48 hours in one calendar month, you won’t get the reward for that month.

Can I get cash?

No. The app currently has two payout options – Amazon credit or donate your earnings to charity. You make your payment choice in the app and then it is taken care of automatically. So if you choose to take the payment as an Amazon credit the amount is added to your account for you, no codes needed. Making this a fab little passive income stream each month! £2 is like two 99p kindle books – winner!

There you go, the app that is currently paying me £24 a year completely passively! After enabling the ad verification this is a completely passive income stream. But I am still holding out hope that I’ll get a spot on the receipt sharing database!
