5 Nights in Marrakech – How Much Did We Actually Spend?
What happens when your sister calls you up and says she is being forced to take a week of annual leave and wants to go away? You find the best flights and book a trip! And hence I recently went to Marrakech for 5 nights and had the best time! But how much did it cost? Our budget for this trip was £500 per person but we weren’t too strict and didn’t limit what we did as the budget did have a little wiggle room. Let’s break down where the pennies went and see if we did end up staying in budget or not… Side note – I went on…

Is Antigua Really The Cheapest Place To Learn Spanish?
I spent two weeks attempting to learn Spanish in Antigua Guatemala on a Spanish immersion program. But how much did it actually cost and is it really the cheapest place to learn Spanish? I picked Antigua, Guatemala because it was so cheap but when all added up, the grand total was more than I thought it was going to be. Let’s break it down… The Immersion Program = $490/£374.30 I knew I wanted to do a Spanish Immersion program somewhere in the world so I googled “cheapest place to learn Spanish” and Antigua came up, so into a research hole I went! In the end I chose a school called…

Travel Spending Diary: House Sitting in NYC for 10 Days
This summer I landed my dream housesit – 10 days house sitting in NYC! I’ve literally been looking (and hoping) for this sort of sit since I started housesitting in 2022. And in September 2024 it came true. {Disclaimer – this post includes affiliate links which means I may earn a commission if you follow a link and make a purchase. This comes at no extra cost to you} I was browsing Trusted Housesitters one afternoon at camp out of boredom more than anything else. And I saw this sit in Queens, NY. The dates worked perfectly into my 30-day visa grace period so I thought, “what do I have…

46 Days of Full Time Travel: Post Camp Trip Spending Diary!
Michigan, Nashville, Florida, New York, Antigua, Tulum… woah best post camp trip ever!!! And last year I did a two week New England road trip followed by two weeks in Italy. I had a 30-day travel period off the back of my J1 visa for camp that I wanted to take full advantage of. Then with nothing in the calendar until the end of September, I decided to head down to Central America and finally explore a little bit. Plus it gave me chance to put my almost-2 year Duolingo streak to good use 😂 But how much did I spend on my post camp trip? Let’s break it down……

Oslo Money Diary – 2 Nights In The Expensive City!
Oslo is somewhere that has been on my radar for the past couple of years. But there was always somewhere else I wanted to go to more! Until I was planning a meet up with some of my uni friends and it worked out cheaper to meet up abroad than in the UK. Crazy right!! Cue days of back and forth. The logistics of flying from three different places in the UK was a nightmare. Oslo came out the reigning champion and our flights were booked. Two nights in one of the most expensive countries in the world – my budget was already crying! But how much did we actually…

Dublin Spending Report – Is It Really That Expensive?
A few weeks ago, I spontaneously decided to book a little solo city break to Dublin after finding cheap flights on Skyscanner. I’d always wanted to visit Dublin but it had never worked out. Considering how close I live and my family’s links to the country, I’m shocked it’s taken 23 years to visit Ireland. After seeing the flights and already planning on being in the city they were from it was a no brainer. Especially considering I have a travel fund, fully funded ready to go. So I went ahead and booked it! {Disclaimer – this post contains affiliate links meaning that I might earn a commission if you…

16 Nights Exploring Italy – How Much Did We Spend?
What happens when you get a wedding invitation for a wedding in Italy and both you and your sister have no commitments for the month after? You extend the trip and do a little tour – right!! Well that’s what we did!!! One of our close family friends got married on August bank holiday Monday in glorious Sorrento and instead of just going for the weekend we decided to extend the trip by two extra weeks to see the sights. After a tough negociation we decided on heading north from Sorrento and our route looked like this… Sorrent → Rome → Pisa → Florence → Bologna → Venice → Verona…

13 Day USA Roadtrip – How Much I Spent!
Hello, ello, ello, long time no blog post!! But I’m back from my best summer yet working as a camp counsellor at a sleep away camp in the West Virginian mountains. I have soooo much to share about my experience at camp and of course the finances surrounding it but I thought I’d kick it all off with a spending roundup from the roadtrip I did with a few new friends once we left camp. We spent almost two weeks together travelling from West Virginia up the coast to NYC (where we met up with some fellow counsellors, one of whom was kind enough to host us) and then onwards…

Gap Year Budget Update – 8 Months In
8 months done and dusted!!! That means I graduated 9 months ago 🤯 Wtf!!! I still frequently refer to myself as a student because I just haven’t got over it yet 😂 These past 8 months have been absolutely amazing and have really made me stop and think about the life I want to create going forward. I frequently change my mind on what I want to do next and I don’t think I’ll make a final decision until I absolutely have too. Anyway, enough of my indecision, the end of the month means only one thing around here… it’s time to break down last months spending 🥳 You may have noticed…

I failed… My £5k Budget is Gone
After 200 days of full time travel, my £5k gap year budget is all gone! I have spent every single penny having an absolutely wonderful time. Ok, so technically I failed. When I initially set this budget I wanted to make it last the entire year, including all the costs associated with my summer job as a camp counsellor. But it soon became apparent that this just wasn’t going to happen. Transportation costs between destinations were way higher than I thought they would be. I actually ended up spending nearly double the amount I’d originally allocated to this cost. I also got carried away a couple of times (especially when…
