9 Cupboard Staples Everyone Should Always Have In

One of the ways that I helps me keep my food shop budget so low (£10 a week) is by making sure I always have these 9 staples in my cupboard. They are all very versatile and are often the key ingredient to my favourite cheap meals. These items tend to last a long time so having to replace them is rare. Plus it is even rarer that multiple of them will run out at the same time so if I have to replace them it won’t break my £10 budget.

cupboard staples everyone needs

Kinda obvious but often overlooked as it seems like a given, but have you seen the price of oil recently! Woah!! I am glad I invest in the big one so I don’t have to factor this in to my shop more frequently.

#2 Salt

Do not underestimate the power of salt when attempting to make basic food taste great! Like with oil, this one is an obvious cupboard staple.

Like curry powder, having tomato puree on hand is great for last minute meals. It is also very versatile as it can be used to make a variety of dishes or add some extra flavour. Add it to some toast or a wrap and melt cheese on top for a perfect fake pizza, love these after a night out 😉

Another great staple which is very versatile. One of my favourite cheap dishes is veggie rice and adding some soy sauce to that is what really makes it!
