5 Nights in Marrakech – How Much Did We Actually Spend?
What happens when your sister calls you up and says she is being forced to take a week of annual leave and wants to go away? You find the best flights and book a trip!
And hence I recently went to Marrakech for 5 nights and had the best time! But how much did it cost?
Our budget for this trip was £500 per person but we weren’t too strict and didn’t limit what we did as the budget did have a little wiggle room.
Let’s break down where the pennies went and see if we did end up staying in budget or not…
Side note – I went on this trip with my sister and to keep things from getting confused we both contributed to one pot which we used to pay for the whole trip. So these are the costs for two adults.
Flights = £152.74
We flew in and out of Manchester airport but with two different airlines as this worked out much cheaper. It came to £152.74 for two return flights with one checked bag to share.
This is on the more expensive side for flights that I’ve seen out to Morocco but we were limited by airport and dates. However, £76.37 each isn’t terrible!
And we did pay extra to have 1 checked bag as although I’m team carry-on only, my sister likes having options and “wouldn’t have survived” (her exact words) without all her toiletries.
I did take advantage of this as we shared the bag so I took more than I needed. I’ve actually written a post all about the things I packed and what I didn’t really need. Check it out here.
Accommodation = £547.84
Our accommodation total came to just under £550 for 5 nights at The Central House and 1 night at the airport Hilton.
Working out to £45.65 per person per night for this trip. We were happy with this but it could’ve been cheaper if we went for a shared room rather than a private room.
It took us ages to decide on a hotel and we did consider a bunch of different options. In the end we went with The Central House and it was perfect for this trip.

Transport = £25.26
This was just for our transport to and from the airport. The hotel we stayed at was in an excellent location so we didn’t need to pay for any local transportation.
And the transportation for the two trips we took was included in the cost so we didn’t have to pay out for those either.
We ended up taking a taxi from the airport and then booked a private transfer via our hotel for the way back. These both cost 150DH but because we paid cash for the taxi and then card for the transfer they exchanged to slightly different amounts.
If we were to go back we would just book a private transfer to pick us up from the airport as it’s not super expensive when split up between a group of people and you’ll get help with your bags through the medina which is arguably priceless.

Food & Drink = £284.64
Our biggest spend in country (so not including accommodation) was definitely on food and drink. We ate some incredible meals during our 6 days in Marrakech!
The food was so fresh and tasty and whilst it all added up, the bill for each meal was very affordable. Think breakfast for two for under £10. Check out all the best places we ate in this post.
This works out to around £23.75 each per day on food and drink so not terrible. Plus we didn’t try to save in this department and happily ate out for most meals.

Activities = £103.04
We did some super cool activities whilst in Morocco! Like a hike in the Atlas mountains to the second tallest waterfall in Africa and quad biking in the desert.
We also visited a few historical sites in Marrakech and had to pay the entry fees. This is the price break down for both of us…
- Ouzoud Waterfall Trip = £34.60
- Quad Biking = £41.44
- El Badi Palace = £18
- Ben Youseff Madrasa = £9
Working out to £51.52 total each which is pretty good value for everything we did!
If you’re going to do anything on a trip to Marrakech, I would highly recommend the Quad Biking tour in the desert. This was amazing and such a cool experience that I will be talking about for years to come!

Souvenirs = £22.05
We couldn’t resist all the incredible shops in the medina and did buy a couple souvenirs to bring home. Between us we bought a pair of fake Prada sunglasses, two magnets, one postcard, a makeup bag and a bracelet.
This all came to roughly £22.05 as we paid cash for the purchases and the exchange rate was a little higher.
Misc. = £13.19
I’ve thrown all those random charges that don’t warrant their own category into this misc one. For this trip, it includes the towel rental charge we paid at the hotel, the toilet charges and the fee we paid to exchange some cash.
Total = £1148.76 (£574.38 each)
Ok so we did come in over budget! BUT it was 100% worth it and £500 was kind of a figure we pulled out of fresh air because I like round numbers. For everything we did, I think the trip was good value.
However, we could’ve potentially got the costs down in the accommodation department and maybe have come in under budget.
So there you go, the total costs for our 5 night trip to Marrakech! Have you ever been? Is it somewhere you’d like to visit?
