Is The Central House, Marrakech Medina Worth It?
Not going to lie, we originally chose to stay at The Central House because the pictures were gorgeous! Super Instagramable!
But it ended up being a great place to stay (in a fab location) with lots going on so really it all worked out.

We stayed here in mid March and paid just under £500 for 5 nights for two adults. Which works out to around £50 per person per night.
We could’ve stayed for even cheaper if we went with a dorm bed but we wanted a private room.
But would I stay there again? HELL YES!

I loved this place and here are a few reasons why…
Half Hostel, Half Hotel
This is probably my favourite type of accommodation! The ones that feel like a boutique hotel but have both dorm rooms and privates. Perfect for those travelling on a budget but still want to stay at nice places!
We did end up booking a 4-bed private dorm room on this trip as we were meant to travel with another friend. It ended up being only the two of us but the dorm room still worked out cheaper than a private double.
Had we shared this it would have been even cheaper!

Lots of Activities
The best thing about staying in hostels is the community aspects! I find that most of them will host events or activities which are a great way to meet new people. Especially if you are travelling solo.
The Central House did exactly this! They ran tea ceremonies, quiz nights, communal dinners and so much more.
We got involved in a few things (taking last place in the weekly quiz) and met some super cool people through it.

Welcome Drink!
I LOVE hotels/hostels that come with a welcome drink! What a great way to start the stay.
The welcome drink at The Central House was very apt – a traditional mint tea. And whilst not the best mint tea on the drink (that honour instantly goes to the tea we had on our day trip to the Ozoud Waterfall) it was a nice touch.
Friendly Staff
All the staff we interacted with were super friendly and went above and beyond to help us!
When we checked in, we did attempt to change our room from a 4 bed to a 2 bed and the gal at the front desk tried her best but with our dates it just didn’t work out.
However as an “apology” she got us an early check in. Like 2 hours early! Which she definitely didn’t need to do but it was a lovely touch.
They also printed off our boarding passes for free as we were flying back with Ryanair who charge an extortionate €55 to print them at the airport.
However, when we checked our baggage in, the guy printed us new boarding passes and didn’t say anything about a charge. So maybe they have changed their policy?
Great Location
As the name suggests, The Central House is located within the Marrakech Medina and is a fab location for exploring the city.
It was within walking distance of all the main attractions but felt very secluded and private once you were inside.

Good Breakfast
We didn’t book the room with breakfast included as we like to be flexible and decide on the day. Breakfast here was buffet style, featuring hot drinks, juices, cold bits and some hot choices.
When we stayed (March 2025) it was 80DH per person and you could pay in the morning. We tried it on our last morning as we had an early-ish pick up and loved the options.
They also serve food all day and not only for guests. Their menu featured a good mix of traditional Moroccan dishes and more western dishes like burgers and pizzas.
Plus the full bar served soft & hot drinks as well as alcoholic beverages throughout the day.

Gorgeous Rooftop Space
One of my favourite things about this place was the gorgeous rooftop space! Full of loungers, tables, chill zones plus a bar.
We stayed in early March so it wasn’t super hot but I can imagine this place being amazing in the summer. Plus the bar wasn’t open for the season yet.
We did spend one afternoon sunbathing up there and it was lush!
The only downside is that the walls are super high so you can’t really see the city over them or catch the sunset.

However, nothing is perfect and there are a few cons I need to point out…
Loud at Night
Our room was located on the ground floor which I think made the noise worse but we found the bar played music till around midnight every night.
So if you are a light sleeper you may need to pack ear plugs. I travelled with my sister and she swore by her loops.
Taxis Can’t Reach It
The one downside of The Central House being in the middle of the medina is that cars can’t reach it. This means you will have to walk a bit to get there with your luggage when arriving and departing.
This was a little bit intimidating when our taxi from the airport dropped us off on a super busy street with the instructions to just walk down that alley.
However, on the way back to the airport we booked our transfer directly from the hotel and a guy came to meet us with a trolley to transfer our luggage.

This was much easier and cost the exact same as our taxi from the airport but without the confusing journey through the cobbled streets of the medina.
So there you go, my review of The Central House – Marrakech Medina. I would 100% recommend this place! Have you stayed here before? Would you?
